Declaration of Interest
Acceptance of Office
Back in 2007 my first month as a Kirkham North Borough Councillor was very hectic. The thrill felt as the election results were announced, alongside a feeling of tremendous responsibility to the many people who voted for me, has meant I had to seize all the opportunities being given to new councillors to participate in lots of training sessions. This meant many hours spent with our experienced officers at the Town Hall being taught the Code of Conduct, Overview and Scrutiny, Licensing plus a day in a coach being shown many parts of the Borough, ending with the One-Stop-Shop in Kirkham. Whilst attending an "Introduction for new councillors" evening, I took the opportunity to offer my time to a number of officers who are involved with areas I feel very strongly about: regeneration, recycling and tourism.

I received a high number of phone calls from residents in Kirkham who have asked me to deal with specific problems. Being able to grasp these problems head-on and resolving a number of them very quickly with the help of my experienced colleague Cllr Liz Oades and officers at the Town Hall was and remains incredibly satisfying. I continue working with the police in a continuing effort in trying to make our town a safe and decent place to live and work.

My passion for, and interest in Kirkham:- >>>

Town Councillor for 8 years
Kirkham In Bloom member for 9 years
Kirkham Market Town Initiative member
Carr Hill Community Association for 7 years
Founder member of Kirkham and District Community Partnership (2006)
Co-Founder of Kirkham and Wesham Business Group (2007)
I have fought passionately to keep our town free from Pay and Display Parking, spearheading the campaign to keep our car parks free.
Campaigned with others to protect and repair our War Memorial
